The Scott Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Ryle Raiders at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Scott has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 10th.
Scott fell victim to Campbell County and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 13-0 to the Camels.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ryle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Boone County 16-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Raiders have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Farmer tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kiley Patterson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Gehring, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ryle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.
Ryle is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Scott, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Ryle struggles in that department as they've averaged .424. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Ryle when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
