Softball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Valley Vikings

Fairfield is a perfect 3-0 against Valley since March of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

Fairfield's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Armijo with a sharp 31-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Karli Robinson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, six runs, and three stolen bases. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, Emma Messer was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Aubrianna Beacham was another key player, going 4-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Fairfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .788. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Valley lost 25-5 to Foothill on Friday.

Fairfield's record is now 5-3. As for Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Fairfield got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 8th against Valley by a conclusive 22-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
