Softball Game Preview: Exeter Monarchs vs. Sierra Pacific Golden Bears

The Exeter Monarchs will take on the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Exeter has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

If Exeter beats Sierra Pacific with three runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Exeter sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Strathmore on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Sierra Pacific entered their tilt with Coalinga on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Horned Toads 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Bears have posted since March 4th.

Misha Soares was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Jaylene Soto was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Sierra Pacific pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Exeter, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Exeter was able to grind out a solid win over Sierra Pacific in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, winning 6-2. Does Exeter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sierra Pacific turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
