Recap: Edinburg Bobcats vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears
It was a good run, but the Edinburg Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 37-13 defeat to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo might stick with them for a while. Edinburg was down 31-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Although Edinburg took the loss, they still got scores from Jude Vega and Bryan Galindo.
Jorge Alanis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Alanis has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Jaime Lopez was another key contributor, throwing for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
Edinburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 8-3 record.
Edinburg will square off against Harlingen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harlingen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Edinburg in Texas (Harlingen is ranked 411th, while Edinburg is ranked 828th). As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Los Fresnos at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Robert Pineda and Lopez.
