Basketball Recap: Clover Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Clover had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 52-46 W against the York Cougars. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Blue Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Cougars are ranked 100th).

Jayden Parks was the offensive standout of the contest as he shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Jaxon Dansak, who posted seven points.

Clover was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York only racked up eight.

York lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Peyton Lowery, who earned 17 points and five boards. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 17 points. Kyle Cripe was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Clover's record now sits at 7-1. As for York, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clover will venture away from home to challenge Rock Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Blue Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for York, they will head out to take on Broome at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars will be up against the Centurions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
