Basketball Game Preview: Horn Lake Eagles vs. Lewisburg Patriots

The Horn Lake Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Lewisburg Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Horn Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.

Horn Lake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: DeSoto Central, who was ranked 17th at the time (Horn Lake was ranked 16th). Horn Lake snuck past DeSoto Central with a 61-56 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Lewisburg was not quite Lafayette's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Commodores. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Commodores 8-4 in the first quarter.

Horn Lake pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Lewisburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Horn Lake strolled past Lewisburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Horn Lake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
