Basketball Recap: West Grand Mustangs vs. Hayden Tigers
West Grand lost against Hayden back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Grand Mustangs took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayden Tigers. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sanjay Geffers, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stran Lechman, who scored 13 points.
Leading Hayden to victory were Cameron Morrison and Jace Bene. Morrison dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while Bene went 5-for-7 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. What's more, Bene also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Nick Winn, who had eight points along with five boards and three steals.
West Grand's record now sits at 4-15. As for Hayden, their win bumped their record up to 3-13.
Looking ahead, West Grand will welcome Rangely at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. Rangely has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hayden, they have already played their next matchup, a 56-36 defeat against De Beque on the 15th.
