Basketball Recap: Webster County Highlanders vs. Gilmer County Titans

Webster County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilmer County Titans. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Gilmer County found their leader in sophomore Kolten Holbert, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 26 points and four steals. The match was Holbert's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mick, who posted 16 points.

Webster County's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Gilmer County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season.

Webster County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-41 defeat against Greenbrier West on the 14th. As for Gilmer County, they have also already played their next match, a 61-55 loss against South Harrison on the 13th.
