Baseball Recap: Erie Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Erie won the last time they faced Niwot and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-5 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Austin Sieckmann tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Boston Coslett was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zach Harner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Erie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niwot only posted a batting average of .300.

The victory (which was Erie's third in a row) raised their record to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Niwot, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Erie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Legacy on the 23rd. As for Niwot, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Broomfield on the 23rd.
