St. Helens gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Gladstone Gladiators by a score of 4-1. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gladiators, too.

Eme Curaming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Addy Ellis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Maddy Lahey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Looking ahead, St. Helens will take on Stayton at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gladstone, they will be playing at home against Rainier at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
