Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Falcons vs. Davis County Mustangs

The Wayne Falcons and the Davis County Mustangs, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court on Monday.

Two weeks ago, Wayne took a blow against Nodaway Valley, falling 72-40. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Wolverines are ranked 29th).

While Davis County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 51-30 margin over Cardinal last Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won eight in a row.

Davis County's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Wayne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
