Basketball Game Preview: Pocahontas Indians vs. South Central Calhoun Titans

Pocahontas hasn't had much luck against South Central Calhoun recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pocahontas Indians will head out to challenge the South Central Calhoun Titans. Pocahontas will be strutting in after a victory while South Central Calhoun will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Pocahontas didn't have too much trouble with West Bend-Mallard as they won 71-52.

Meanwhile, South Central Calhoun lost 71-48 to Storm Lake on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 16th).

Pocahontas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for South Central Calhoun, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Pocahontas took a serious blow against South Central Calhoun when the teams last played back in January, falling 57-30. Can Pocahontas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
