Baseball Game Preview: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Sterling Raiders

For the second straight game, Spring Woods will face off against Sterling. The Tigers will welcome the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spring Woods has four straight wins, Sterling has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Spring Woods got the win against Sterling by a conclusive 13-3. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

Keegan Reed tossed a big game, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luis Fabian Rendon, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Bernardo Ramirez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Spring Woods always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Spring Woods pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1.
