Mesa Verde had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against the Newark Memorial Cougars by a score of 2-0.

Eddie Montepeque paced Mesa Verde's offense, picking up seven kills. Montepeque got some help from Vernon Stahl and his ten assists. Montepeque was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Mesa Verde's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Newark Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Mesa Verde wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against West Campus on the 29th. As for Newark Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
