Softball Recap: Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack vs. Dallas Mountaineers

Wilkes-Barre had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it six. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dallas Mountaineers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mountaineers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in April.

As for Dallas, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For Dallas' part, NINA BARROUK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 17 Ks. BARROUK has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, CAROLYN COMITZ was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. SOPHIA MAIER was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Wilkes-Barre will challenge Wyoming Valley West at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Dallas, they have already played their next game, an 8-3 win against Crestwood on the 12th.
