Baseball Recap: Landrum Beats Polk County for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Landrum extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 17-6 in the process. They skirted past the Polk County Wolverines 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Wolverines back in March, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

As for Polk County, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-11. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Polk County's part, Gunnar Alm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Landrum will venture away from home to challenge Greenville Tech Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.25 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Polk County, they will take on East Rutherford at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
