Basketball Recap: Mitchell Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Mitchell had won two straight home games and Christopher Stoddart did his part to make it three on Friday. The Mitchell Mustangs strolled past the Fivay Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 77-62 thanks in part to Stoddart, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (three).

Another player making a difference was Fillipe Frangie, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and eight boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Fivay lost, don't look at Sean Brown. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points and three steals. Brown continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Odell Brown was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Mitchell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. As for Fivay, they moved to 14-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Mitchell will be playing in front of their home fans against Strawberry Crest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Strawberry Crest has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests. As for Fivay, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-40 win against Anclote on the 25th.
