Softball Game Preview: Cypress Woods Wildcats vs. Cypress Park Tigers

Cypress Woods is a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Park since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Neither Cypress Woods nor Cypress Park posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Cypress Woods fell victim to Cypress Ranch and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Morgan Becher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cypress Woods saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Hopkins, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Cypress Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to Langham Creek, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Cypress Woods' loss dropped their record down to 12-14-1. As for Cypress Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-18.

Cypress Woods took their victory against Cypress Park in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
