Basketball Preview: Putnam Kingsmen vs. Hillsboro Spartans
Putnam is 9-1 against the Spartans since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Putnam Kingsmen will play host again and welcome the Hillsboro Spartans, where tip off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Putnam, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-47 loss to the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, Hillsboro took a serious blow against the Cougars on Friday, falling 83-39. Hillsboro has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Putnam's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4. As for Hillsboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Putnam against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 86-38 victory. Will Putnam repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
