Soccer Game Preview: Palo Duro vs. Lubbock-Cooper

The Palo Duro Dons will challenge the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Palo Duro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Palo Duro's offense. They lost 7-0 to Amarillo on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Sandies are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to Amarillo on Friday. The shutout was out of character for the Pirates seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

Palo Duro's loss dropped their record down to 5-7-3. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1-2 and their overall record down to 6-2-4.
