Football Recap: Newburyport Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Newburyport's offense. They came up short against the Manchester Essex Hornets on Friday, falling 24-0. The loss leaves the Clippers still looking for their first win of the season.

Zach Hurd was nothing short of spectacular for Manchester Essex: he rushed for 87 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Hurd a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two).

Newburyport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Manchester Essex, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.
