After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Potomac School brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers on Wednesday. The Panthers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.

Gavin Speigel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Will Piester was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Wyatt Pence was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Piester wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Potomac School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Potomac School's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Calhoun Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Potomac School will host Trinity Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Calhoun Academy, they will take on Annapolis Area Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Annapolis Area Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something Calhoun Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
