Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Piedmont Panthers, falling 53-21. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 48-27 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Griffin, who posted nine points. Griffin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tashia Quick, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Central's record is now 0-3. As for Piedmont, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-11 loss against Darlington on the 10th. As for Piedmont, they will square off against Central at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
