Soccer Game Preview: Amherst County vs. Rustburg

The Amherst County Lancers will square off against the Rustburg Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Amherst County managed to slip by Brookville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lancers came up short against the Bees on Tuesday, falling 4-1. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Amherst County couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Rustburg kept a clean sheet against Appomattox County on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Raiders. That's two games straight that Rustburg have won by exactly two goals.

The victory got Rustburg back to even at 3-3. As for Amherst County, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.

Amherst County beat Rustburg by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 1-0. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
