Basketball Recap: East Mecklenburg Takes a Loss

East Mecklenburg played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Butler Bulldogs 75-32. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-13.

When it comes to explaining why East Mecklenburg lost, don't look at Jurnee Darling. Despite the final result, she posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Butler's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Saunders, who put up 16 points along with five assists and five boards. Saunders has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Chloe Ross was another key player, going 10 of 13 on her way to 20 points and eight rebounds.

East Mecklenburg dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Butler, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.

East Mecklenburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-41 loss against Weddington on the 7th. As for Butler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-35 victory against Rocky River on the 7th.
