Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Comes Up Short

Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-21 loss at the hands of the Riverside-Durham Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 33-22 last Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Durham School of the Arts had strong showings from Faith Yon, who posted 13 points, and Dylan Cholon, who earned no points. That was a full 61.9% of Durham School of the Arts' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Riverside-Durham to victory were Au?Nehstii Hagans and Beck Arrendondo. Hagans dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while Arrendondo almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Saniya Thurman, who posted ten points and five steals.

Durham School of the Arts' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Riverside-Durham, their record is now 2-3.

Durham School of the Arts didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-42 defeat against Discovery Charter School on the 16th. As for Riverside-Durham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-34 loss against Western Alamance on the 13th.
