Basketball Recap: Bethune-Bowman Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Bethune-Bowman, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They managed a 51-46 win over the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mohawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Bruins are ranked 19th).

Despite the loss, Orangeburg-Wilkinson still got an impressive performance from Jordan McGahee, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. McGahee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Amorie Miley was another key player, putting up seven points.

Bethune-Bowman pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they moved to 11-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Bethune-Bowman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Branchville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they and North will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season.
