Basketball Game Preview: L'Anse Creuse Lancers vs. St. Clair Saints

The L'Anse Creuse Lancers will venture away from home to face off against the St. Clair Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: L'Anse Creuse has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while St. Clair will arrive with six straight wins.

L'Anse Creuse is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Roseville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. L'Anse Creuse took a blow against Roseville, falling 66-36. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Allison Tuladziecki, who posted 15 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Schuck, who scored six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, L'Anse Creuse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. Clair hadn't done well against Marine City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. St. Clair was the clear victor by a 43-21 margin over Marine City. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

St. Clair is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for L'Anse Creuse, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

L'Anse Creuse came up short against St. Clair in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 38-34. Can L'Anse Creuse avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
