Basketball Recap: CORE Butte Takes a Loss

CORE Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 33-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maxwell Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lynx of the 69-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Maxwell was led to victory by Macklin Kuska and Noel Velazquez. Kuska dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Velazquez almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Kuska is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tanner Vierra, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

CORE Butte's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Maxwell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

CORE Butte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-36 defeat against Williams on the 14th. As for Maxwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-36 win against Princeton on the 14th.
