Softball Recap: Cypress Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cypress won against Villa Park last Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Centurions walked away with an 8-4 win over the Canyon Comanches. The victory was nothing new for the Centurions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Delaney 'D.J.' Faus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Naya Taylor was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Cypress was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Cypress pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8.

Coming up, Cypress will face off against Esperanza at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Centurions are facing the Aztecs at the right time seeing as the Aztecs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Canyon, they will host Pacifica at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Comanches 3, the Mariners 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
