Basketball Recap: Waterford Comes Up Short

Waterford was the 62-38 winner over Frontier when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Waterford Wildcats fell just short of the Frontier Cougars by a score of 49-47 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Cougars since December 30, 2014.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frontier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Bowersock, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bowersock a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was True King, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Waterford and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Frontier, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterford will head out to square off against Belpre at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waterford is facing Belpre at the right time seeing as Belpre is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Frontier, they are taking a road trip to take on Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Frontier is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
