Football Preview: Snow Canyon Warriors vs. Pine View Panthers
Snow Canyon has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Pine View Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Things were looking good for Snow Canyon after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They received a blow as they fell 31-14 to Dixie. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.
Although Snow Canyon took the loss, they still got scores from Andrew Castro and Brody Lounsbury.
Meanwhile, Pine View entered their matchup against Crimson Cliffs on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Pine View had to suffer through a 56-21 loss at the hands of Crimson Cliffs. The Panthers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Garrett Gwilliam, who rushed for 140 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Harris, who picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Snow Canyon's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Snow Canyon strolled past Pine View in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 by a score of 27-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for Snow Canyon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
