Basketball Game Preview: Mountlake Terrace Hawks vs. Everett Seagulls

The Mountlake Terrace Hawks will face off against the Everett Seagulls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Mountlake Terrace was beaten by Archbishop Murphy 72-31. The Hawks have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mountlake Terrace saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaliyah Dyson posted 11 points and six steals. Dyson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Samiah Coffee was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Everett took a blow against Stanwood on Monday, falling 62-25. While losing is never fun, the Seagulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Spartans are ranked 64th).

Mountlake Terrace's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Everett, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Mountlake Terrace was dealt a bruising 55-7 defeat at the hands of Everett in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Mountlake Terrace avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
