Game recap: Skyline conquers Westlake

Skyline (Salt Lake City, Utah) overcame Westlake (Saratoga Springs, Utah), 28-10.

The Eagles were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a Tyler Snyder touchdown pass to Garrett England in the second quarter.

Skyline expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Snyder to Chris Williams.

Cameron Yorgesen made a difference for the Thunder. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.



Snyder was the top performer for the Salt Lake City school. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.

Westlake's lone touchdown came on a 3-yard pass from Yorgesen to Stockton Rentfro in the second quarter.

The Eagles entered the contest giving up 20.6 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding WHS below its season average of 13.1 points scored per game.

SHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 24-6.

The loss comes after Westlake defeated Murray 23-16 last week. The loss snapped the Saratoga Springs school's 2-game winning streak. With the win the Eagles extended their winning streak to four games.

In a 4A Region 7 game next week Westlake (3-5) takes on Herriman, and Skyline (5-3) will go up against Olympus also in a 4A Region 7 game.
