Basketball Preview: Adams Cougars vs. North Mesquite Stallions        
        
		
            The Adams Cougars will face off against the North Mesquite Stallions at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Given that  the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this  match.
Adams easily dispatched Spruce two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Adams fell just short of Seagoville by a score of  36-33 last Friday. The Cougars have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
 Adams might have lost, but man,  Artiss Harris was a machine:  she  posted 20 points. That was a full 60.6% of Adams' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's   earned  more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Linley Davis, who  put up seven  points.
Meanwhile, North Mesquite was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They took  a  61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cypress Creek.
Adams will need focus on slowing down  Syniyah Grigsby, one of several North Mesquite players who made an impact when they last played. She  dropped  a double-double on 24 points and 11  rebounds. The  contest was  Grigsby's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was  Gabriella Grigsby, who  dropped  a double-double on ten points and 11  rebounds.
 Even though they lost, North Mesquite  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 19  offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least 11  offensive rebounds in ten consecutive  games.
 North Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
