Football Recap: Leander Piles Up the Points Against Del Valle

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hendrickson, Leander was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Del Valle Cardinals 43-14. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 29-17 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Ke'Marion Gordon went supernova, rushing for 167 yards and three scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Those 167 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Mason Montgomery was another key player, throwing for 200 yards and a pair of TDs.

Leander's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Del Valle, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leander will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Del Valle, they will venture away from home to take on Copperas Cove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Bulldawgs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
