Football Recap: Dk Woods' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crockett County over South Gibson

Crockett County dropped to 6-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 24-14 to the South Gibson Hornets. The Cavaliers were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in October of 2022.

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dk Woods, who rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown.

As for South Gibson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.2 points over those games.

Tyshaun Jeter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 71 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Coming up, Crockett County will be playing at home against Chester County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for South Gibson, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jackson North Side at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
