Basketball Recap: Eno River Academy Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 31-31 at halftime, Eno River Academy was not quite Excelsior Classical Academy's equal in the second half on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions. The Bobcats just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Despite the loss, Eno River Academy still got an impressive performance from Gabe Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Jack Kroothoep, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Excelsior Classical Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Goss led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 boards. Goss has been hot, having posted 14 or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Tyler Hill was another key player, putting up ten points along with six boards and three steals.

Eno River Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Eno River Academy will challenge Roxboro Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eno River Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, they will face off against Voyager Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Voyager Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Excelsior Classical Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
