Volleyball Game Preview: IC Imagine Kingfishers vs. Mount Pisgah Academy Mountaineers

The IC Imagine Kingfishers will venture away from home to take on the Mount Pisgah Academy Mountaineers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Last Friday, IC Imagine made easy work of Temple Baptist and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Kingfishers.

While IC Imagine won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-25, 25-10.

Loretta Smith and Shamya Johnson were among the main playmakers for IC Imagine as the former had six aces, four digs, and one block and the latter had seven aces and five digs. Those six aces gave Smith a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: IC Imagine was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Mount Pisgah Academy got the win against The Franklin School of Innovation on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mountaineers yet this season.

While Mount Pisgah Academy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: The Franklin School of Innovation scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19, 25-20.

Mount Pisgah Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for IC Imagine, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything went IC Imagine's way against Mount Pisgah Academy when the teams last played on September 9th, as IC Imagine made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kingfishers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
