Basketball Recap: Jayden Anderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Port Allen

On Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Independence Tigers beat the Port Allen Pelicans 56-52.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Anderson, who posted 23 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Kordell Hines was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 17-15. As for Port Allen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-17.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Port Allen, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Breaux Bridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
