Basketball Recap: Flint River Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Flint River Academy lost against St. George back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Flint River Academy Wildcats fell 50-42 to St. George's.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was D. J. Baums, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Baums is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Riner, who posted six points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Flint River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

St. George's found their leader in sophomore Davis Helms, who scored 18 points. Stroud Searcy was another key player, putting up nine points.

Flint River Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6. As for St. George's, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Flint River Academy has already played their next contest (against Lafayette Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. George's will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against LaGrange Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
