Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Superior's Winning Streak

Superior dropped their record down to 17-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins. They lost 14-8 to the Hayden Lobos. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lobos earlier this season, when they won 20-6.

Superior saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lessenia Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Barbie Ybarra was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Hayden, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games.

On Hayden's side, Sienna Gonzales was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Gonzales has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mianah Bravo, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Superior does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hayden, they will challenge San Manuel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Miners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.71 runs per game on average), something the Lobos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
