Baseball Recap: Louisa-Muscatine Gets the Win

Louisa-Muscatine took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Winfield-Mt. Union, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Wolves on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted against the Wolves since June 8, 2023.

Owen Klocksiem made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Klocksiem was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Klocksiem wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Braun, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Sedric Lamb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Louisa-Muscatine and bumps their season record up to 5-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Louisa-Muscatine will head out to square off against Van Buren County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, they will welcome Pekin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
