Basketball Recap: Holyoke Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 19-19 at halftime, Holyoke was not quite Limon's equal in the second half on Saturday. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Limon Badgers. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Badgers: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Holyoke still got an impressive performance from Reid Sprague, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Sprague, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Holyoke was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their sixth loss (out of 18 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Limon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drey Tacha, who had 11 points and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Tacha a new career-high in assists. Keagan Mellott was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Holyoke's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Limon, they now also have a winning record of 12-11.

Holyoke wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-52 victory against Custer County on the 7th. As for Limon, they have also already played their next contest, a 61-49 win against Swallows Charter Academy on the 7th.
