Baseball Recap: Grove City Eagles vs. Hickory Hornets        
        
		
            
 Grove City won against Clarion Area  last Friday with nine  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Monday. The Grove City Eagles walked away with  a   9-5  win over the Hickory Hornets. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for Grove City.
  Layne Rider looked comfortable as he  tossed  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks).
 At the plate,  Nolan Renick was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.  Paul Gubba was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 On Hickory's side,  Joey Cidila was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Luke Ference, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Grove City pushed their record up to 2-1 with that  victory, which was their fifth straight  at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.0 runs per game. As for Hickory, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Grove City will head out on the road to  take on  Conneaut Area at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Hickory, they will be playing at home against Oil City at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
