Volleyball Recap: Van Meter Bulldogs vs. Wapsie Valley Warriors

Van Meter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wapsie Valley Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Wapsie Valley can attribute much of their success to Avery Jones, who had six digs and 20 assists. Jones is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 20 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Curley, who had ten digs.

Van Meter's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Wapsie Valley, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.

Van Meter will head out on the road to square off against Pleasantville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Van Meter is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for Wapsie Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss vs. Ballard on the 28th.
