Softball Game Preview: Ripon Indians vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets

Ripon has gone 8-2 against Hilmar recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Ripon will be playing at home against Hilmar at 4:00 p.m. Ripon is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Ripon's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Escalon 7-0. That looming 7-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.

Not much got past Angelina Martinez, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Escalon off the board. With that strong performance, Martinez is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Addison Naranjo was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Alana Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Hilmar didn't have quite enough to beat Livingston on Saturday and fell 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Yellowjackets have lost by exactly two runs.

Ripon pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hilmar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Everything went Ripon's way against Hilmar in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Ripon made off with a 9-2 win. Does Ripon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hilmar turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
