Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Joliet Central Steelmen

It was a proper cat-fight when Plainfield South took on Plainfield Central on Thursday. Everything went Plainfield South's way against Plainfield Central as Plainfield South made off with a 65-39 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Plainfield South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layla Lesure, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lesure a new career-high in assists (five). Tierra Abner was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Plainfield South was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Joliet Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Romeoville on Thursday, taking the game 53-42. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Steelmen.

Plainfield South's record is now 5-3. As for Joliet Central, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
