Baseball Preview: Churchill Bulldogs vs. Walter Johnson Wildcats
The Churchill Bulldogs will square off against the Walter Johnson Wildcats on Saturday. Churchill hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Churchill fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Blair on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 3-2.
Owen Singer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Churchill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Bitterman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
