On Friday, Foundation Christian Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Zephyrhills Christian Academy. They skirted past the Warriors 11-10. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.
Raeghan Ramsey and Makayla Howard made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ramsey struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Howard pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Ramsey went 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Howard scored two runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Ramsey has posted since back in April of 2024.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raegan Goble, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another was McKay Barron, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against St. Petersburg Catholic on Thursday as Carrollwood Day made off with a 17-6 win. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Foundation Christian Academy, Carrollwood Day also got a great game from a two-way player: Maya Fuller. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fuller has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Fuller was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. Julia Antinori was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Carrollwood Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Foundation Christian Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Carrollwood Day, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
